VISION: South Kingsville Community Centre, a leader in community development, provides resources that are responsive to the needs of the community and enhance social well-being.

South Kingsville Community Centre (SKCC) was established in 1993 by the then City of Footscray to provide a range of services for people from birth to mature age including maternal & child health, childcare, playgroup, kindergarten, senior citizens and people who are frail or disabled. A grant received from the Westgate Baptist Community enabled the Centre to employ a co-ordinator to provide affordable educational and recreational programs to all members of the community. SKCC is also able to provide information and referral services.

SKCC is managed by a volunteer committee and is supported through funding received from Hobsons Bay City Council, Department of Human Services, Department of Victorian Communities and Adult, Community and Further Education.

As well as the services listed above SKCC also offers the following programs:

  • Adult Education including Office Administration, various Computer classes and English
  • Exercise & Well-being including Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi and All Round Fitness
  • Personal Development including Creative Writing, Italian language, Knitting and Quilting
  • Free Public Internet Access
  • Free Internet/Email classes for seniors & people from a multicultural background
  • Speciality disability programs including Woodcraft & Beautiful Babes
  • Respite programs for children/teenagers

SKCC also houses the SKCC Community Craft Group, Learning for Life, and Gateway Social Support Options.
We have a large hall, conference room and smaller meeting rooms which are available for hire to community and commercial groups at affordable rates.
