The Honourable Lynne Kosky MP will be the guest of honour at a Graduation ceremony for students at the Laverton Community Centre this Friday 7th December. 

Ms. Kosky will be presenting students with certificates in recognition of their achievements throughout 2007.  

Students who have recently completed a Certificate II in Hospitality at the Centre will be receiving their certificates and also preparing the refreshments to be served after the ceremony.  The funding for this course was provided by the Government of Victoria through the Priority Education and Training Program (PETP.)   During the course they had the opportunity to put their skills into practice by preparing and serving food at the Laverton Community Café which is run at the Community Centre.  Students will now be better placed to find work within the hospitality industry as a result of their training. 

Also participating in the graduation will be many of the students who attend a variety of English classes at the Centre.  Funded through Adult Community and Further Education, and the federal Department of Education Science and Training, these classes provide an opportunity for many people for whom English is a second language, to improve their skills in speaking, reading and writing English. 

Displays of student’s work and photographs of their activities will also be on display at the ceremony which is to be held in the Laverton Community Centre hall.
