Angliss Neighbourhood House Receives Investing in Community Education and Training Funding
Angliss Neighbourhood House was successful in their application to the Investing in Community Education and Training (ICET) funding deed under the Teaching and Learning Capital Fund (TLCF) for Vocational Education and Training (VET).
The Angliss Neighbourhood House is located in a public housing estate situated in Footscray within the City of Maribyrnong. The estate has few services and a high level of socio-economic disadvantage as indicated by the socio-economic disadvantage index of 827.
The application’s aims were to contribute to the removal of barriers of access to education and training and provide the opportunity for the community to participate in higher education; to move on to higher levels of learning and undertake training in the areas and at the levels where skills are needed. It will increase the capacity of the Angliss Neighbourhood House to provide a facility that supports a training program that will grow to reach more participants with a wider range of needs and that is responsive to the changing needs of industry.
The building extension will better position the neighbourhood house to provide programs and services that benefit the local community across all life stages, cultures and abilities. Further, it will provide increased and improved access to facilities and programs for the most vulnerable community members.
