Play a part in the development of solutions to the most challenging questions of our time at the 2009 Communities in Control Conference, Crisis, Catastrophe, Community: Rebuild, Renew, Recharge. Highlights Communities in Control 2009 features a fantastic line up of speakers, including: * World-leading communities for health expert, Professor Len Syme; * Australia's great homeless youth advocate, Major David Eldridge; * Australian of the Year and indigenous advocate, Professor Mick Dodson AM; * Member of the social inclusion board and community advocate, Eddie McGuire; * Leading futurist, Richard Watson. This year's ever-popular and often controversial Great Debate will be anchored by former Victorian Premier Joan Kirner and will feature Clare Martin, CEO, Australian Council of Social Services, and Lorna Hallahan, disability rights activist, and Mayor of Hootville Brett de Hoedt. Pre-Conference Skills Day - Fundraising, Advocacy & Evaluation: How to use indicators to produce compelling evidence-based proposals As communities across Australia regroup from recent events and brace for more tough times ahead it's more important than ever to know how to tell your group's story in a way that's compelling, revealing and evidence-based. Now is the time to learn how to put to work all the information, indicators and evidence at your disposal, and use them to support your community organisation's mission. Who participates? Once a year 1500 remarkable people gather in Melbourne to exchange ideas and wisdom, be re-energised and inspired and address the big leadership issues facing Australia's community organisations. It's Australia's largest, most intimate, most popular community conference. When: Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 June 2009 (pre-conference skills day on Sunday 14 June).
