introduction

THINKWEST is a cluster of 6 community centres located in the western suburbs of Melbourne. Their collaboration has made them one of Victoria’s most innovative group of Adult Community Education providers. Their commitment to social justice, access and equity is what makes them unique and popular with thousands of people.
They deliver hundreds of programs and services designed to meet the needs of their communities. Many of these programs and services are only available through these centres. To many people these centres are their only social and educational option. Most of these centres are managed by local committees of management, making them truly responsive and community focused.
This website has been developed to celebrate their work and promote the wonderful contribution they make to their local communities.
The Making of the CD: A Community Development Process
THINKWEST is proud of the work that we do but we never lose sight of ‘why’ we do the work that we do. Unlike many other educational providers, THINKWEST’s motivating philosophy is based on developing community.
THINKWEST are proud to announce that they have produced a promotional CD to introduce and showcase our work to a wider audience.
The THINKWEST members wanted not only a CD to be produced but that the development process be inclusive and representative. We were careful in our choice of CD developer to ensure they understood the Adult Community Education sector, the western suburbs of Melbourne and that the developer worked using community development principles of inclusion, recognition and representation.
Copies are limited but if you would like a copy please email us and we will gladly forward a copy onto you.
